holyweekJoin us for a whole week of opportunities to reflect on and celebrate the events leading up to and including the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.  Here's what's in store:

Sunday, April 13
  • 1:00pm - Post Card Blitz after second service - we'll be hitting the neighborhoods around MERCYhouse to hand out invites to our Easter Services.
  • 7:00pm - Gospel in Culture Event - The book A Transforming Vision demonstrates why Christian communities should be multiethnic and provides a practical vision of how that can take place. The contributing authors worked together in an intentional multiethnic fellowship at Amherst College, and each of them walked away transformed by that experience. Here they combine personal experience with biblical insight and research on multiracial churches to offer an indispensable guide to multiethnic ministry for both church communities and campus fellowships. Come join us for an evening of discussion and Q&A through the concepts of A Transforming Vision with Paul Sorrentino and Tim Jones.
Wednesdsay, April 16
  • 6:00pm - Passover Seder - Join us for a meal together that observes the Jewish traditions surrounding Passover.  It was the context for Jesus' instituting of the Lord's Supper and the last thing he did with his disciples before being arrested.
Friday, April 18
  • noon - Crosswalk - We'll be walking in procession throughout the town of Amherst following a few of us who will take turns carrying a large wooden cross.  It's an opportunity to reflect on Jesus' death and raise awareness of the significance of the day for others in our community.  We start and end at MERCYhouse and it usually takes about one hour .
  • 7:00pm - Good Friday Service - Be a part of this creative service that will use music and readings to chronicle the events of Good Friday.
Saturday, April 19
  • 7:30pm - Showing of the Passion of the Christ movie in the MH Sanctuary.
Sunday, April 20
  • 9:15am - Easter Worship Service
  • 10:45am - Coffee and Conversation
  • 11:15am - Easter Worship Service

Church-Wide Mission to Las Malvinas PDF Print E-mail

malvinasWe are excited about year two of our relationship with the community of Las Malvinas.  It's a make shift community in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.  We served there last May by helping to build a water cistern that when completed will deliver clean drinking water to about 100 families.  Our hope is to be an ongoing blessing to this community and actually make a long term difference through our demonstration and proclamation of the gospel.

This May we are taking 20 MHers to serve there again.  We'll be putting the finishing touches on the cistern as well as facilitating kids programs and improving the community's baseball field which looks more like a cow pasture.  While not everyone can go, everyone can participate by praying and giving.  We have a handful of people who plan to go but don't have the $800 to cover the airfare and other expenses.  We also need funds for project money once we get there.  Would you please consider giving to help with this trip.  You can put a designated check in the offering basket on Sunday or give ONLINE by putting your donation in the "mission trip" category.  So far we have enough money to scholarship one person.

We'd also encourage you to pray for this trip.  Please pray for health and safety.  Pray for unity among the team that is going.  Pray for the people that go on the trip, that they would be matured as disciples of Jesus.  Also pray for Las Malvinas.  Pray that the gospel would be demonstrated by our work and proclaimed with our words.  While the material needs are great, spiritual needs are always at the heart of any and every struggle.

Thank you for your willingness to participate in this trip by going or from a distance.  If you have any questions, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
