docaribThis week, 17 MHers will be heading down to the Dominican Republic to serve in a community in the city of Santo Domingo.  The community is called Las Malvinas.  We'll be heading there on Thursday, May 16 and returning the following Thursday.  Our hope for this trip is that we would build some great relationships within the community as well as meet some physical needs -  all resulting in pointing people to Jesus.  The physical need being met is providing 100 families with clean drinking water.  It's going to take about 4 days of hard work laying pipe and installing pumps and a cistern.  We are asking that people would pray for us during this trip.  Here are a few of the requests that we'd like for you to lift up:

  1. Health and safety of the team:  Any time you travel you expose yourself to different bugs and we want people to be able to serve at full strength and come home healthy.
  2. Team unity:  Pray that a group of people that don't even know each other will bond quickly and work harmoniously together.  Pray that friendships would be built that would continue once we are back.
  3. Demonstration and Proclamation of the Gospel:  Pray that we would show and tell the good news about Jesus in our actions and our words.  Pray for those who are Spanish speakers to have good conversations about why we are there.  Pray that our actions and attitudes would speak volumes about the Lord that we serve.  Pray that hearts would be open to the Good News.
  4. Discipleship:  Pray for the spiritual growth of those that are going.  That God would use this trip as a means of maturing each team member resulting in repenting from sin and growth in the practice of spiritual disciplines and the use of spiritual gifts.  Pray that this growth would continue to carry over into daily life once we have returned.

We will keep you posted during the week on The TABLE.  If you haven't joined, take a minute to fill out a profile so you can get real time updates.

Thanks for your prayers!

ecclesialogoCome join us this Sunday as we begin our new sermon series called "Ecclesia".  It's the greek word that we see translated "church" in our english Bibles.  It was a word used to describe gatherings of legislators who would gather to deliberate about certain issues pertaining to their community and then scatter into that community for the rest of the week.  Jesus and later the early church latched on to this word to describe the essence of the communal yet missional entity we know as the church.  Find out more this Sunday as we explore Jesus' foundation teaching on the church from Matthew 16.
